CuSO4 +Zn -----> Cu + 2ZnSO4

Daniel is weighing out the Zinc to make sure we don't have too much or not enough.
The final reaction involves the replacement of copper with zinc. Zinc reacts with the cupric sulfate solution forming zinc sulfate solution and copper.

This is a single replacement, because the Zn reacted with the SO4 and the Cu didnt react.

Cu3(PO4)2 + 3H2SO4 -----> 3CuSO4 + 2H3PO4

In this image daniel is stirring the solution to make sure it does not blow up.

Involves another acid-base neutralization reaction as sulfuric acid dissolves the cupric phosphate to produce a blue cupric sulfate solution and phosphoric acid.

CuCl2 + Na3(PO4)2 -----> Cu3(PO4)2 + NaCl

Here is colby getting low to make precise measurmenrts.

Involves a reaction between the cupric- chloride solution and a solution of sodium phosphate to produce a blue cupric phosphate and sodium chloride.
This is a double replacement, because the Cu reacted with the PO4 and the Na reacted with the Cl.

CuO + 2HCl -----> CuCL2 + H2O

The black cupric oxide undergoes an acid-base neutralization reaction with aqueous hydrochloric acid to form a green cupric chloride salt solution, and water.

Colby is holding the funnel to make sure that it is sturdy and will not tip over.

Cu(NO3) -----> Cu + 2H2O

Daniel is stirring the solution to make sure it doesnt blow up.
The blue cupric hydroxide is decomposed with heating into black cupric oxide solid and water.

2Cu(NO3)2 + 4NaOH -----> 2Cu(OH)2 + 4NaNO3

Katie is looking at the directions to make sure that this step is being done the right way.

The blue cupric nitrate solution reacts with aqueous sodium hydroxide in a reaction to produce a blue cupric hydroxide and sodium nitrate.

This was a double replacement reaction, because the Cu reacted with the OH and the Na reacted with tthe No3.

Cu + 4HNO3 ----> Cu(NO3)2 + 2H2O + 2NO2

The solid copper is becomming blue aqueous cupric nitrate
and brown gas NO3 is being released.

Katie is taking accurate measurments by bending down to see the meniscus of the Nitric acid.
